The MTA (Metropolitain Transit Authority) has selected Kaye Media Partner’s One Touch Train as the App of the Week! One Touch Train allows railroad passengers to view MTA schedules at a glance. Once you program in your favorite trips, One Touch Train will save your information and automatically provide you with your next five available trains. You can also search all schedule and turn on audio announcements (in case you fall asleep)! Check out what the MTA has to say.

So why did we create this app in the first place? Well, out team members were frequent commuters to New York City. We were painfully aware that every second matters when trying to catch a train, but if you didn’t know the schedule, then you could end up stuck in the terminal for 30 minutes or more.

Oftentimes commuters have set trains that they take, but what if your schedule changes? You may leave early or stay late for a business dinner or friendly outing. This change in routine requires you to have your train schedule ready at a glance so you know whether to move a bit more swiftly or continue that conversation for another 5 minutes.

In sum, One Touch Train now gives travelers the flexibility and convenience they need to go about life uninterrupted.

Our app is now available for Metro North Railroad, Long Island Railroad and NJ Transit for both Android, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Visit the App Store or Android Market to get this app today.

Here are the direct links to the apps in the Android Market and App Store.

The App:    Dropbox

Company:  Dropbox

Platform:   iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry, plus a mobile website
About This App: Need access to your computer files? Dropbox lets you bring your files with you on the go, edit them, and upload photos and videos so you can share your files with friends, family and business colleagues.
What’s Cool About This App?   It’s free. Documents are easy to access and easy to edit.
What’s Not So Cool About This App: Sharing documents doesn’t seem to be supported (or at least it’s not intuitive). Therefore, if you forgot to bring a document with you, you can’t simply email to yourself or a colleague.
What’s the Verdict? Thumbs up for this app. Dropbox is a great storage tool that provides an easy extension for your mobile phone. Add email sharing capabilities and this app becomes a winner.

The App:    PDANet

Company:

June Fabrics PDA Technology Group

Platform:

Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, PalmOS Treo and Centro, PDAReach, Pocket Web Clipping (freeware)

About This App:

Need internet access? PDANet allows you to use your smartphone as a wireless modem. Simply download the software onto your computer that corresponds to your device, download the app and then connect with a USB modem or via Bluetooth DUN. Follow the simple instructions and “voila!” You’re connected. It does NOT require root access or hacking your phone’s firmware. It’s a great tethering platform with speeds well above 35Mbps on Android phones.

What’s Cool About This App?

It’s free. If you want to access secure website, it only costs $15.95 (Android & Blackberry), $34 (Windows Mobile & PalmTreo) for a lifetime license.

What’s Not So Cool About This App:

It doesn’t really work for iPhone unless you jailbreak your phone. There are instructions on how to do that, but it’s a risky process.

What’s the Verdict?

Purchasing a plan from your provider can cost you around $30-$50 more per month. This app equals HUGE savings for the economic buyer.

We’ve done it again. We just launched a new app that provides on-the-go access to the Metro North Railroad train schedule. With just one touch, you can view your next five available trains and make instant decisions as whether you should walk, jump or dash for your next train.

Why is this important? For out-of-town commuters, every minute – no every second – counts when trying to make your next train. If you miss it, you could be stuck on the platform for another 30-60 minutes. That means less time with your family, a missed meeting or just a simple waste of time. You’ve got places to be and OneTouchTrain helps get you there faster.

If you travel Metro North Railroad’s, Harlem, Hudson, New Haven, Port Jervis or Pascack Valley lines, this app is a must have for your android smartphone. Download it today from the market and tell us what you think!

Love the My Pesky Receipt app but not sure if you should buy? Test it for 30 days for free and decide if the advanced functionality of the tool helps you keep your receipts more organized. When the 30 days are up, you’ll be asked if you want to purchase the full version. If not, all your data will be saved and a free to continue to use the lite version at will. Want to learn more about the differences between lite and deluxe? Click here.

Apparently a lot based on this “Cease & Desist” letter we received on Thursday, August 26th  from Mavis G. Huger, COO & General Counsel of  Third Solutions. Third Solutions claims that MyReceipts is a pending trademark of the company that they’ve been using since 2007. Of course we visited their website to see if they are real and it looks like a pretty cool service. Check it out!

We must admit that we didn’t expect our mobile receipt app to cause such a stir especially using such generic words like “My” and “Receipts,” but with over 13,000 downloads since our launch, I guess it caught their attention. Here’s what we’ve been asked to do by Tuesday, August 31st.

  • Cease all use of the trademark MyReceipts™, otherwise known as the “Mark.”
  • Deliver-up for destruction all material to which the Mark has been applied
  • Withdraw, cancel and/or delete any corporate names, domains, etc that include the Mark

So in the spirit of good business, we’ve changed our name from MyReceipts to My Pesky Receipts (one word). After all, they did have it first. Since our app only lives online, it was relatively easy for us to cease, destroy and withdraw; WOW, such aggressive words!

For our 13,000+ users, all that has changed is the name. All the same great features apply! So keep organizing those pesky receipts using all the cool new features we’ve added over the past couple of months. Additional filters coupled with the ability to scan receipts and export the data to your computer make it easier than ever to go paperless and manage your expenses on the fly.

And Ms Huger, we hope this meets your expectations! Hopefully, you found out about us because you downloaded our app!

Kaye Media Partners, LLC, a media and technology company dedicated to improving consumer lifestyle through mobile applications, today launched its premier mobile application for Android users – MyReceipts. MyReceipts users can easily enter and categorize their receipts right from their Android phone in just a few seconds.

“The MyReceipts app enables users to track their expenditures on-the-go. As soon as they make a purchase, they can enter the expense, categorize it and see a running tally of how much they are spending almost instantly,” says Sonia McFarlane, VP of Idea Generation. “It is especially useful for tracking cash and spontaneous purchases. Plus, we’re not stopping there. Our developers are already working on new features to help you store actual receipts and better manage the data.”

Key features of the MyReceipts mobile app include:

  • Pick lists that “remember” previous entries so you don’t have to type them again
  • Ability to quickly sort by merchant, classification, currency, amount or date range
  • Automatically shows running totals of expenditures so you can track spend over time
  • Ability to enter notes for each receipt entry
  • Supports all currencies

The MyReceipts app is exclusive for Android users and is currently available in the Android Market as a free download. To learn more about the MyReceipts mobile application, visitwww.kayemediapartners.com.
